Cortisone Shot & Hyaluronic Acid (HA) injections

If you are interested in a faster acting pain and inflammation relief, or lubrication of your joints, Cortisone Shots and Hyaluronic Acid injection could be good choices to your.

UPON YOUR REQUEST, we also offer adding Hyaluronic Acid to your PRP Injections to promote joint lubrication while PRP is doing its healing!

Note - These injections are normally done by Ultrasound Guidance to assure accurate placement. While hyaluronic acid can be added to PRP therapies and cortisone shot, Cortisone Shot CAN NOT be used a month before- after the PRP therapy

How It Works:

  • Cortisone injections work by reducing inflammation within a joint, tendon sheath, or surrounding tissue, which can help relieve pain and improve function.
  • Hyaluronic acid injections work differently by supplementing the natural lubricating fluid within a joint, helping to improve cushioning, reduce friction, and support smoother movement.
  • Both treatments may help reduce pain and improve mobility in appropriately selected patients with musculoskeletal and joint conditions. They can be injected together

Cortisone (Kenalog) Injections:

  • Cortisone shots are powerful synthetic corticosteroid medications designed to provide rapid, localized relief from pain and inflammation caused by various musculoskeletal conditions. Commonly utilized for ailments such as osteoarthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, and rotator cuff injuries, these injections work by calming the body’s localized immune response directly at the source of distress. While highly effective at restoring a patient's range of motion and creating a crucial "window of opportunity" to comfortably participate in physical therapy, they do not cure the underlying physical injury.

Hyaluronic acid (Hyalgan®- Synvisc®) injections

  • Hyaluronic acid injections help improve joint lubrication and cushioning, which may reduce pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis and other degenerative joint conditions. By enhancing the natural shock-absorbing properties of joint fluid, these injections can support smoother movement, improve mobility, and help patients maintain an active lifestyle when appropriately selected.

Considerations:

Treatment selection depends on the specific diagnosis, severity of symptoms, imaging findings,

prior treatments, and individual patient goals. Corticosteroid injections may provide faster short-term pain relief by reducing inflammation, while hyaluronic acid injections are intended to improve joint lubrication and may offer more gradual symptom improvement in selected patients with osteoarthritis.
